4th Grade
Hi there! I’m Kara Thurman and I’ll be your child’s fourth grade teacher. This will be my first year teaching at Smart Christian Academy and my seventh year teaching overall.
My husband, Rob, and I were college sweethearts and have recently celebrated five years of marriage. This past year we also welcomed our first child, a beautiful baby girl, into the world. Together we love to go on long walks, dance around the kitchen, and, really, just about anything. Any moment together is a new memory made and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
My goal, in the classroom, is to provide moments that challenge but spark wonder and fun everyday. I’m so excited for your child to be a part of it!
Education
I received my Bachelors of Science in Agriculture Communications from Illinois State University (Roll Birds!) in 2017. Then, I received my Masters of Arts in Teaching in Elementary Education from Western Governors University in 2023.

- Birthday: February 23
- My favorite place in the world is the beach. I have always loved the ocean and everything in it.
- Hobbies: I love gardening, baking, cooking, reading, listening to music or podcasts, and spending time with family and friends.
